DVR is a great organisation where you can make a difference, and enjoy it with many other like-minded people from all walks of life. There are so many areas you can be involved in, and the opportunity to learn about many more under skilled guidance. It is a fantastic and rewarding hobby to become involved with. Volunteers are invited to be a part of the DVR story.

Running Days

Members get together at the Railway on Sundays for train operations. Wednesdays are usually the day when retired members arrive to share each others comradeship and to repair and maintain the track, signals and equipment so that the Railway is kept in good condition. Members may also come at other times to management meetings, to undertake specific prearranged work or work on their own equipment.

Membership is open to any interested person who is over the age of 15 years. Membership requires you to actively attend the Railway and assist in an area that interests you. Volunteering is not onerous, Full membership requires attending and assisting the railway one day per month and Associate membership requires less.

The membership process is as follows:

  1. Fill out an Expression of Interest form or come down to the Railway on a Running Day and introduce yourself at the ticket office. We will organise a tour for you and give you an application form.
  2. Send us your completed application form with $20.
  3. As a Provisional Member you will get to meet many members of the Club and experience what it is like to operate a railway in miniature.
  4. After a maximum period of three months, your application will be reviewed in order to be accepted into the Club as an Associate Member.
